Powerdrop: enabling low waste coating with difficult materials

Archipelago Technology

what we do

Coatings are everywhere – our cars, homes, gadgets, even the food we eat! Yet the spraying processes used to apply these coatings are expensive and inefficient – up to 50% is wasted, causing huge economic and environmental cost.

By replacing the spraying process with a high efficiency, versatile ink jet alternative, our unique Powerdrop™ ink jet system solves these issues and adds further value.

9

Powerdrop™

is a non-contact process that can operate at high speed and can handle even difficult materials such as high viscosity adhesives.

9

Powerdrop™

applies high quality, water-based coatings with minimal waste, making it suitable for even high value materials.

9

Powerdrop™

delivers precision doses of materials at distances of 300mm or more, yet with millimetre accuracy.

These unique characteristics make Powerdrop the technology of choice for:

  • Waterproofing coatings – e.g. paper packaging
  • Quality coatings – e.g. furniture manufacturing
  • Agricultural chemicals such as crop spraying
  • Adhesive application e.g. packaging

About Us

technology

Powerdrop dispenses viscous liquids as microdroplets.

Many manufacturing operations need to dispense precise, micro-litre quantities of viscous liquids. Conventional metering systems can’t deliver volumes that are sufficiently small. Ink jet systems cannot deliver viscous liquids.

Powerdrop can do both. It provides precise, consistent, micro-litre deliver of viscous liquids.

Our unique Powerdrop technology results in a greatly reduced use of materials such as chemicals and paints by directing them accurately to where they are needed and in precise quantities. Coating quality is ensured, while overspray is eliminated, reducing costs, waste and carbon emissions, and reducing costs.
